Toll Road
The toll road makes the travel time shorter. It usually takes about 2.5 hours, but it took us about 3 hours because of the heavy traffic.
Traffic Jam In Between Toll Roads
We started off the rush hours, but still got caught in the middle of traffic jam.
Freight Line
No semi-trailers, there were lots of container trucks and mid-size trucks on the slow lane.
Bikes on Delivery
Some of the commercial trucks deliver these motorcycles to the dealership somewhere.
Gundaling
Pork was for lunch. There are only few restaurants that serve pork, since it's not kosher nor halal.
Dago 158
I used to stay at this house for the last 2 years of my college life.
Dago Giri House
This is my sister's house, up on the hill. It's a simply beautiful house.
Nice Patio to Relax
The house has a patio to sit and relax. It was quite, away from the traffic noice and the busy city.
The Top of Gunung Batu
Paulus and I went for a hike up the hill, to the top of Gunung Batu (Stone Mountain). I don't think it's technically a mountain, but it was quite a hike.
Lembang from Above
From the top of Gunung Batu, we could see Lembang on one direction and Bandung on the opposite direction. It was pretty hazy, so we couldn't see that far. The mountain on the left is an active volcano, which recently has becomed more active.
Documenting the Migration
We met a group from the local birding community on the top. They were observing the migration of hawks. According to these guys, the birds are originated from China, Taiwan, and maybe Russia. The hawks were migrating south to Nusa Tenggara Timur. There were about 50 sightings while we were up there. It could get up to about 1000 sightings total per migration season.
Looking South Through the Haze
Bandung was pretty hazy, so we couldn't see far to south part of Bandung.
Seismic Station
On the top, there's also a seismic observation station. It monitors the ground movements, since there's a major fault nearby.
Farming Land on the Hill
The place is surrounded by farm lands own by the locals. At the time, they were growing chili, broccoli, and tomatoes.
Lots of Chili
This farm only grows chili, lots of them.
Hilly Farm Land
It's quite a hilly farming land. The house to the right is the official house of the Deputy Governor of the West Java province.
It's All the Way Downhill from Here
The farm land is prepped and ready to be planted.
Kids Will Be Kids
No Xbox or Playstation or Nintendo, just soccer.
Jackfruit
You can't find this in the US easily. It's in front of my sister's house.
Rainy Evening in Bandung
It rained pretty hard just before we went out for supper.
Toko Roti Duti
After supper, we went to this sandwich shop. I used to come here, in the middle of the night, in my college years. They stay open until 2 am.
Early Morning on the Hill
While I made photos of sunrise, my sister took the comfortable route on enjoying the scenery.
Down Hill Home
The hill is surrounded by fields that are being cultivated by the locals. They mainly grow produce such as broccoli, green beans, chilli peppers, and tomatoes.
The last leg of the hike home. We went up hill passed this recently cultivated field.
